Dolly Parton shared sneak peek of real hair and tattoos as star hits 78 today

Dolly Parton, the iconic singer who turns 78 today, has given fans a rare peek at her real hair in her recent autobiography, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics.
Known for her elaborate hairstyles and stunning figure, Dolly’s wigs have become as much a part of her image as her music.
She wrote in her book: “I always wore my hair all teased up… Then as soon as I could buy those hairpieces and wigs, I wanted them.”
She added that they were handy and became her trademark. The book also reveals a glimpse of her natural hair, which is just as beautiful.
On Instagram this week, Dolly treated fans to an old photo from 1965 when she joined Monument Records.

Dolly wrote under the photo: “In case you’re wondering, yes, that’s my real hair.”
People don’t usually think of Dolly as having tattoos, but there are whispers she’s got lots hidden under her clothes.

Jennifer Saunders, the star of Absolutely Fabulous, once said she saw Dolly’s ‘beautiful’ tattoos at dinner in Los Angeles.
“It was 9:30 in the evening, which meant that the restaurant was empty, because that’s what happens in LA, everyone goes home, no one stays out drinking late,” Jennifer remembered.
“And so the restaurant was empty and she just opened her jacket and showed us, can I say, the most beautiful tattoos.”
Dolly has now said yes, she does have lovely pastel tattoos that cover her scars.
Talking to CNN, she said: “If I have to get a scar for any reason, I never can kind of get rid of that purple look.
“So I thought, ‘Well, I’m going to kind of decorate these with some flowers or little butterflies or whatever.'”
